Home Remedies For Dry Skin

Home Remedies For Dry Skin

Some people are struggling with dry skin due to different reasons, it may be due to external factors or they might have naturally dry skin.
It can affect any part of the body–hands, legs, and arms. In many cases, lifestyle changes and over-the-counter moisturizers may be all you need to treat it. But did you know that there are a variety of home remedies a person can use to relieve dry skin?

The following treatments can be used as moisturizers for your dry skin.

  • Sunflower seed oil- It improves hydration when used as a moisturizer because it has emollient properties that help the skin retain its moisture. Vitamin E helps trap moisture inside skin cells, keeping skin hydrated for a longer period.
  • Raw Shea Butter– it is great for hydration, calms the skin, and protects the face from extreme temperature. It is also used to help moisture, nourish, and soothe the skin.
  • Oatmeal Bath– extracts from oatmeal had anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help treat dry skin.
  • Flaxseed– used in many anti-inflammatory diets as the essential fatty acids like alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and lignans, which help lower inflammation—good for those who suffer from arthritis, joint inflammation, or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
  • Honey– it is beneficial for many types of skin diseases, various studies have found honey to be moisturizing, healing, and has anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Petroleum Jelly- it is one of the most effective moisturizers on the market. It works by sitting on top of the skin, where it forms a barrier and prevents water from leaving your skin.
  • Aloe Vera– helps the production and release of collagen, protects the skin, and treats infections.
  • Avocado– Rich in antioxidants as well as biotin which is of the vitamin B family that is essential for healthy skin, also it is greatly applied directly as a face mask or hair mask for external hydration.
  • Walnuts– a healthy powerhouse of omega-3 acids and antioxidants. It also helps combat free radicals that lead to skin damage and give that healthy radiant glow.
  • Sweet Potato– beta carotene in sweet potatoes acts as a sun barrier that locked-in moisture, it also promotes healthy skin reproduction to keep feeling renewed.
  • Cucumber– contains ascorbic acid which helps with water retention, it pushes out toxins while boosting the body with hydration.

If you experience occasional dry skin, you can likely prevent and treat it using simple lifestyle changes and over-the-counter moisturizers. If you develop severe dry skin, make an appointment with your doctor.
