Common Fall Skin Problems

How Can I Address These Fall Skin Problems?

Changes in the season seem to do harsh things to our skin especially summer and winter, but don’t just stop there, the milder months can bring on their own skin concerns. A study notes that changes in seasons can alternate the functional areas of the skin such as sebum output, skin color, melanin content of pigmented spots, skin hydration, all being increased during specific seasons.

Now, during the fall season, common skin concerns include dry skin and rosacea flare-ups. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, rosacea affects at least 14 million US adults or 1 in every 10 individuals.

We want to get you a little help and knowledge on how to keep your skin healthy through all of the pumpkin spice, apple picking, and cozy nights by the fire.

Dry Skin

I love the cool air. BUT — it has more trouble holding onto moisture because individual air particles are more densely packed than they are in warmer temperatures, which means a serious drop in humidity with, of course, a drop in temperature. Drier air means drier skin.

According to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, simple daily routines, such as bathing and towel drying, may actually remove moisture from the skin — in which I agree. We should lessen our bath time during the cold months soon. Modifying your bathing routine will help preserve your skin’s moisture. Bathing provides the skin with moisturization temporarily, but it removes the skin’s oily lipid layer and in the long run, causes more moisture loss than gain.

The wrong type of moisturizer can have the same effect. Generally, water-based lotions are easier to apply, but oil-based creams are more effective in trapping moisture.

I have to recommend the NeoGenesis Intensive Moisturizer for you.

Rosacea

It’s not uncommon for rosacea sufferers to experience flareups in the fall. You can keep rosacea under control by keeping your heat indoors more moderate and by opting for warm, not hot showers.

Anytime you introduce new products to your skin, GO SLOW. Give your skin time to adjust and you’ll have better success at finding what works.

Use a gentle, non-irritating cleanser — it’s important. I recommend the NeoGenesis Cleanser because it works well to cleanse the skin without stripping the skin barrier and avoiding irritating already sensitive skin.

Rosacea often damages the skin’s natural barrier. So, restoring the skin barrier is our first line of defense as it will cause outbreaks and inflammation. NeoGenesis Barrier Renewal Cream is the perfect serum for combating Rosacea. It contains ingredients known to restore the skin barrier and soothe any irritation.

Who here still aids their existing blemishes? You can try and have a look at NeoGenesis Recovery. It speeds treatment inflammation and irritation.

Common Autumn Skin Problems

The Dos and Dont’s

There’s something great about fall, we all know that. According to the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, autumn also provides an opportunity to recover from the summer toll on the skin left by sun, chlorine, and saltwater, which is in fact, a great thing. Here are just a quick dos and don’ts:

Do list for autumn skin

  • Exfoliate and Moisturize. It’s best to apply moisturizer directly after a bath or shower as it will help seal in and replenish the skin with the water and oil it needs.
  • Protect your lips. The sun is still there, so let’s protect everything against the UV rays, and cracked lips are often occurring, so? moisturize it too.
  • Switch from lotion to cream. As the air becomes drier, the skin needs a thicker moisturizer. Creams provide a stronger oily barrier to provide hydration.

Don’t list for autumn skin

Don’t forget the sunscreen. That’s it.

Choosing skin health is a daily routine no matter what the season. No matter the temperature outside, the changing seasons call for some adjustments in your skincare routine. Seek medical help with a professional, okay? Don’t just rely on Google alone. It is always better to talk with an expert. Please note the recommendations here are not intended as medical advice. Please consult your physician for medical advice.

Take care!
