BASICS OF LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Did you know that dull, puffy skin is one of the top complaints people have about their bodies? It’s embarrassing, right? Fortunately, lymphatic drainage is a natural way to flush toxins from your body and improve the health of your skin.

Lymphatic drainage helps your skin achieve a glow that you’ll love. How does it work? And what can you do to start today? Read on.

WHAT IS LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?

WHAT IS LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?

Short answer? It’s the tissues and organs that fight off infections and other diseases. Basically, it’s part of our immune system. It is great at removing toxins and waste. Now, if your lymphatic system is not at its peak, or should I say, not functioning well, it can result in the fluid build-up which may result in puffy skin.

If your lymphatic system is stagnant, it can also lead to an increase in toxins, which can make the skin appear dull or even result in acne breakouts.

BENEFITS OF LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the other cells and the combination of lymphatic drainage + massage allows you to remove toxins from the tissues and absorb greater nutrients to nourish the skin.

Lymphatic drainage removes toxic and congestive substances from your tissues, which then allows greater absorption of nutrients. To pinpoint, lymphatic drainage:

Now, lymphatic drainage is usually paired with gua sha and facial massage. By doing either of the two, you get to address lymphatic drainage. The whole process helps to stimulate circulation. In fact, it can have a similar effect as that of an actual massage and is also known to be an effective way to increase lymphatic drainage and relieve pain.

GUA SHA TOOLS

I personally love gua sha and its tools. It varies in size and shape. The curves and broad surface contour your face and gently stretches the tissues and fascia that help support fluid movement and lymphatic drainage. Also, you’ll even get instant lifted results.

STEP BY STEP LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE AT HOME:

  1. Make sure your skin is cleaned. Prepare your skin with a serum or facial oil. My favorite serums are available online. They’re my favorite since they can glide on the skin without pulling.
  2. Get a gua sha tool lay flat against your face and begin in your forehead. Scrape in an upward motion from the eyebrows to the hairline.
  3. Under-eye areas need to be in a very gentle scrape. Begin from the inner corner of your eye towards the temple. This area is sensitive, so, it is importnat to apply light pressure.
  4. Cheeks are done in an outward motion. Start with the crease of your nose going to your ear. There are a lot of lymph nodes around the ear, which is why you bring the massage all the way to the ear.
  5. When you move to the jawline, use the end of your gua sha tool. Preferably with the two curves. Begin from your chin to the ear. Release tension by gently massaging the gua sha tool into the ear.
  6. Neck, don’t forget the neck! Lay the gua sha tool as flat as you can and gently scrape from the top of your neck down. This encourages lymph nodes in your collar bone.

STEP BY STEP LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Practice each movement at least 5 times on each side of the face. In order to maximize results, consistency and proper form is key! I also teach how to do this properly, and if you’re interested you can message me!
