Sun-damaged Skin Treatment

Spending time outside especially during summer is a great way for us to be physically active, reduce stress, and get vitamin D, which absorbs calcium that our body needs to build and maintain healthy bones. But, too much sun exposure is also harmful to our skin and can lead to:

1. Dehydration

2. Skin Changes

3. Early Aging

4. Lowered Immune System

5. Eye Injuries

6. Skin Cancer

Above are the reasons why summer skincare is very important. According to Skin Cancer.org, the estimated number of new cases in Florida will increase to 9,680 or 10.63% by the end of 2021.

To avoid harmful effects of the sun, it is very essential to always wear sunscreen (SPF) every day, avoid sun exposure in the middle of the day (from 10 a.m to 3 p.m, wear protective clothing, wear sunglasses that filter UV light, and also see to it that you’re drinking plenty of water to keep your skin and body hydrated.

The following are the basic skin care treatments that you can do for healthier skin during summer:

1. Hydropeel- with the air pollution and humidity, the facial skin starts to experience clogged pores, black/whiteheads, acne breakouts, dry patches, accelerated aging of the skin, and more. A gentle HydroPeel facial treatment using soothing micro-electro pulses to cleanse, extract and hydrate skin while infusing highly effective serums tailored to your specific skin needs.

2. Microneedling- It involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger. It also helps with acne, hair loss (alopecia), hyperpigmentation, large pores, reduced skin elasticity, scars, stretch marks, sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles.

3. Blue light therapy- This white light is only a portion of the entire electromagnetic spectrum, which contains other wavelengths that the human eye can’t see, like the sun’s ultraviolet radiation rays, which are what burn your skin and damage your cells. Photosensitive chemicals in the medication get to work destroying those precancerous cells. Technically, the blue light’s specific wavelength (450-495 nm) interacts with the drug to create an oxygen molecule that targets and destroys specific cells.

4. Ultrasound Therapy- Therapeutic ultrasound is often used for treating chronic pain and promoting tissue healing.

5. Radio Frequency- Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause the collagen fibers in your skin to break down and become disorganized. A 2011 study trusted Source found that 3 months of RF treatment led to clinically significant improvements in a small group of people with mild to moderate signs of sun damage.

6. Guasha Facial- can help clear the pores, firm, and tone the skin, soften lines, lighten hyperpigmentation, and give the skin a radiant glow.

7. Ice Facial- Applying ice is a great way to treat sunburns as doing so can soothe your skin by helping you get rid of the redness and inflammation due to sun exposure.
